Penny Driggers of Longmont, Colorado, passed away at the age of 82 on April 4, 2025. Penny was born on November 6, 1942 in Queens, New York to the late George Head, Jr. and Marie Herter Head. She spent her childhood in Flushing, New York, and graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Penny spent many years as a teacher in New York, Connecticut, and Hawaii, and was proud of teaching left-handed children (like her) to write. She enjoyed a second career as an Executive Assistant in Connecticut, Hawaii, and Massachusetts. She retired and relocated to Longmont, Colorado in 2010 when her granddaughter, Allison, was born.

Penny always loved exploration and adventure. As a child, she attended Camp Wishe in upstate New York and learned to ride horses. She later learned to sail, purchased a sailboat, and enjoyed many happy days sailing on Long Island Sound. She and her husband Steve ran a New England antique business for many years, then purchased land in Holualoa, Hawaii, and started a small coffee farm. Once retired, Penny took her first overseas trip to France and never looked back. She traveled to all seven continents, collecting memories and adventures along the way as she traveled with friends, her daughter and family, or even solo. Some of her favorite trips were to Russia, Egypt, Antarctica, the Galapagos, Japan, and Peru, and she was always looking forward to her next adventure. She was active in the Longmont Parkinson's Support Group.

Penny was predeceased by her husband Stephen D. Driggers, and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer M.H. Peers and Eric J. Peers of Boulder, Colorado, as well as her granddaughter Allison M. Peers.

Penny supported several charities throughout her lifetime that she was passionate about. As such, donations in her memory can be made to Planned Parenthood (https://www.plannedparenthood.org/get-involved/other-ways-give) or Doctors Without Borders (https://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org/secure/donate).
