NEW CASTLE – Penny Sue (Wiley) Kingery, age 70, of New Castle, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, Ascension St. Vincent Hospital - Indianapolis. She was born in Greenfield to Fred E. and Henrietta (Bond) Wiley. Penny attended Mt. Vernon High School and received her associates degree in early childhood development from Ivy Tech Community College.
Penny served for many years as an assistant special education teacher at Maxwell Elementary and Shelbyville School, where her compassion and patience touched the lives of countless students. In addition to her work in education, Penny was the owner of Funtime Day Care. She loved her family and cherished spending time with her children, especially her grandchildren. Penny enjoyed traveling in the Fall, attending covered Bridge Festival, and going to yard sales.
Penny is survived by her lifelong partner, Marc Ralston of New Castle; children, Wendy (Cary) Stidham of New Castle, Jason (Jill) Kingery of Indianapolis, and Ashleah Dailey of New Castle; five grandchildren, Heather (Aaron) Morgan, Kindra Stidham, Xavier Dailey, Scarlet Dailey, and Skyelar Dailey; three great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Raymond, and Reagan; sister-in-law, Betty Wiley; and lifelong best friends, Donna and Johnny Mullins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Henrietta Wiley; and brother, Kenneth "Kenny" Wiley.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Inurnment will be at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
