Benson, NC: Mrs. Penny Coats Lee, age 73, of Curr Well Drive passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Coats. Rev. David Smithey will officiate. A Private Entombment will be held at Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Mrs. Lee was born on April 23, 1950 in Harnett County to the late Garland Alonzo and Lunette Ennis Coats. She retired from Dorothea Dix Hospital as a CNA after 30 years of service. Mrs. Lee always had a smile on her face and never knew a stranger. She loved working in her plants and flower gardens. Mrs. Penny and her husband, Bob were brought together for their love of beach music and shagging. They attended local beach music events and loved traveling to North Myrtle Beach, SC. Mrs. Lee was a life-long member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Robert “Bob” A. Lee; brother, Michael Coats and wife, Janice of Apex; nieces, Andrienne Moore and husband, Jesse, Ashley James and husband, Michael; nephew, Jacob Coats; great niece and nephews; loving sisters-in-law, Peggy Stevens of Smithfield, Sue Johnson and husband, Mike of Smithfield, Dianne Parker and husband, Billy Ray of Smithfield.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 9:00PM Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 5171 Glenwood Ave., Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
