Penny Cannette Pemberton Spivey, age 76, of Vancleave, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in D’Iberville, Mississippi.
She was born on May 29, 1949, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Douglas and Gloria Pemberton. Penny was a 1967 graduate of Biloxi High School and earned her Radiologic Technologist Degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 1983. She worked for Singing River Health System in Pascagoula and Gulf Coast Community Hospital before retiring from the Biloxi VA Medical Center in 2009.
Penny was active in her profession and community as a past president of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Radiologic Society, a member of the Biloxi High Alumni Band, and a charter member, past president, and past royalty of the Krewe of Isis in Biloxi. She also served her church community as a CCD teacher at Sacred Heart in D’Iberville and Christ the King in Latimer, where she also played the organ.
She enjoyed life to the fullest, spending time on the water, crocheting, sewing, traveling, camping, and especially cherishing moments with her friends, family, and beloved grandchildren.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Gloria Cannette Pemberton; her brother, Wayne Pemberton Sr.; and her sister, Belinda Pemberton Bogard (Robert).
She is survived by her loving husband, Joel Robert Spivey; her children, Kaylen Spivey Tapper and Jason Spivey; her grandchildren, Chais Tapper, Deven Tapper (Kaylan), and Addison Spivey; and her sister, Deidre Harmon.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, November 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Latimer. A reception will immediately follow at the Latimer Community Center.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Barbara Bullard, Steve Bullard, and Glenda Blue for their wonderful care and support, as well as to Andrea, RN, and Tasha, CNA, with Deaconess Hospice, and the team at Deaconess Home Health for their compassionate care.
