Per Akerstrom Obituary
Per had a lengthy career in the airline industry, working for the Scandinavian Airlines System. After 27 years of service, he fully enjoyed his retirement and second career in other lines of work.
Per is preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Areta (nee. Skirnyk), his mother, Elsa (nee. Ekelund) and father, Per Stig Akerstrom. He is survived by his children Per C. Akerstrom (m. Jennifer Buzzard), Sonia M. Akerstrom, Darian J. Martyniuk (m. Andrea Gibson), and Tamara A. Jazwinski (nee. Martyniuk) (m. Gregory Jazwinski). He took great joy in the love he had for his five grandchildren: Ingrid Akerstrom, Sofia and Anton Martyniuk, & Joseph and Matthew Jazwinski. He is also survived by his brother Leif Akerstrom of Lund, Sweden.
Internment will be held in private ceremony at St Nicholas Ukrainian Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church in Palatine, IL or Help Heroes of Ukraine.
