SSGT Percy Darnell Dotson, USAF (Retired) was born October 17, 1931, to the late Cornelius Dotson and Stella Mae Wilson Dotson of Tyler, Texas. He was the youngest of four children, Pansy Horton, Louise Cyrus, and Deckard Dotson, all who were residents of Los Angeles County and preceded him in death.
He passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, in Clifton, Texas. On February 6, 1957, he married Eva Marie Harper, and together they had a daughter, Janice Karen Dotson. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1960 and married the late Onia Mae Wilson of San Antonio, Texas on December 15, 1965, when he was 34 years old. Together they had one daughter, Roslyn E. Dotson. Both wives and daughters preceded him in death, but he has one surviving daughter, Donna Simmons of San Antonio, Texas.
Percy was known to many as "Paul". He attended high school in Athens, Texas and after graduation, joined the U.S. Air Force where he served until, he retired in 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, siblings, and two daughters.
He leaves to mourn, his daughter, Donna Simmons, Stepson, MAJ (Retired) Allie J. Richardson, III, Stepdaughter, Debra D. Jones, Grandchildren, MSGT Andray Dotson, Anthony Dotson-Drew, Anitria Dotson-Davis (Jason), great grandchildren, Maximiliano Dotson-Finley, Aiyana Serenity Madrigal, and Jason Davis, Jr, along with Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and others who loved him.
To many in the family, Paul was the first military retiree they had ever encountered. A fact that inspired his Stepson Major (Retired) Allie J. Richardson, III to serve along with 5 grandsons/step-grandsons, MSGT (Retired) Christopher Walker, MSGT Andray Dotson, Jeffery Walker, Ronnie Walker, and Anthony Dotson.
