Percy Emmett Haskins, affectionately known to all as "Nuckey," beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, was born on November 22, 1951, in Roanoke, Virginia, and peacefully departed this life on November 12, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Moore; his father, Harold Haskins, Sr.; his stepfather, Eugene Moore; his son, Percy Lamont Haskins; his brother, Harold Haskins, Jr.; and his sisters, Cherry Ann Weinstein, and TaWanda Crews. To know Nuckey was to love him, known to speak his mind, whether you liked it or not. His family was his world, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for you. His energy shifted a room, and his jovial spirit touched every person he encountered.
In his younger years, he attended Job Corps, where he earned his GED and learned the skill that became one of his greatest passions-automotive mechanics. After completing Job Corps in Salt Lake City, Utah, he traveled for a while and became a lightweight boxer. Nuckey was a master mechanic, loved working on cars, poured steel, worked on the railroad, made furniture, did masonry work, and could fix anything. He was a fisherman at heart, where he could cast a line and chill. He loved shooting pool and spending time with family and friends. Known for his friendly spirit and quick wit, the joke was always that "He could make a rock talk." In recent years, he cherished spending time with his family and creating memories that will forever be held close to our hearts. He married Ivy Haskins in 1971, and together they welcomed three children: Marvin, Monica, and Lamont. He remarried later in his life to Veronica Baker-Haskins on March 8, 2025. Nuckey leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, his sister, Tara Woods, his daughter, Monica Todd (Son-in-Love, Baylen Todd), his son, Marvin Haskins, and Bonus children, Andre and Tamika.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brittany Hill, Robert Hill Jr., Kayla McGraw, and Marvin Haskins Jr.; great-grandchildren, MaKenzie Worsely, Amir X, Mickayla McGraw, and Zayed X. As well as bonus grandchildren, Diamond, Mason, Madison, Xavier, and Andre Jr. He will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews: Sharon & Kenny Haskins, Kim& Ronnie Bell, Annie and Marc Ettrick, Michael Haskins, Jessica & Kenny Molock, Irving & Diana Haskins, Quentin Haskins, Allan & Nisa Potter, Temetrius Crews, Tawanda Johnson, Yolanda Johnson, and Robert Johnson, along with a host of other family members. He is also survived by countless friends, including his lifelong best friends, John Crews and Mack Bevel, who loved and respected him deeply. Nuckey leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and unforgettable memories. Loved by many for a very good reason, and his presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will live on in every story told and every heart he touched.
