Perry Cain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Oct. 12, 2022.
On Saturday, October 8, 2022, Perry Joseph Cain, passed away at the age of 62. Perry was born on September 20, 1960, in Liberal, KS to Don and Kay (Fugger) Cain. He received his bachelor's degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK in 1983. Perry had many passions throughout his lifetime, including writing and drawing. He had a very creative mind and many artistic talents. He used many of these talents in a professional life that largely revolved around Public Affairs.
Over the years he worked for Senator Don Nickles (OK), Harrah's, Boeing, the Orange County Medical Association, Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce (President & CEO), and the University of Phoenix. Beyond career, if you knew Perry well, you couldn't help but know that he loved baseball. He grew up in a baseball family, so he and his brothers all love baseball and many a family outing was dominated by baseball talk. Perry expressed that love of baseball through coaching baseball or softball over the years. While still in high school, he coached a little league team, the Eisenhower Tigers. Later, while in Washington D.C. working for Senator Don Nickles, he coached the almost champion Nickles Machine softball team. And in Irvine, CA, he was integral in establishing the softball ministry at Saddleback Church and he coached teams there for a number of years.
Perry was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and his kind and compassionate spirit. And while cancer poisoned his body, he did not let it poison his mind. He kept a positive attitude throughout his struggle and spent his last days telling friends and family how much they meant to him. He believed passionately in God and wanted to be an inspiration to those around him. He succeeded in that mission, and he will be sorely missed by those that loved him.
Perry was preceded in death by his father, Don. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kay & Malone Skinner of Prescott, AZ; his two brothers and their spouses, Mike & Christine Cain (Sedona, AZ) and Doug & JoAnna Cain (Norman, OK); his four nephews: Tyler, Dakota, Dillon, and Jasper; a great niece, Peyton; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
