On April 23, 2025 we lost Perry Ronald Nichols, a husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was born on August 4, 1962, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Perry grew up in Agency, Iowa, where he developed a passion for all sports. He grew to have a lifelong passion for the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Cardinals, but his true loyalties never strayed too far from home with his lifelong love for the Iowa Hawkeyes (Go Hawks!). He was also an avid golfer and loved snow skiing.
Perry began his career in technology in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which led him to Lawrence, Kans., and eventually to Kansas City where he met his wife, Cindy, while they were both working as IT consultants. Two years later they were married and would have celebrated their 28th anniversary this fall. Perry and Cindy loved all forms of dance; ballroom, tango, and had recently taken up square dancing.
Perry was a cherished husband, father, son, sibling, and friend. He demonstrated his love for Cindy by taking on the challenging role of being a stepfather of three young boys and modeling integrity and loving kindness for them. He was always there to support them in all of their interests and activities, even to the point of enduring drum practice, countless hours of wrestling matches, and sampling exotic foods in Vietnam.
Perry demonstrated his faith in God through his kindness, his generosity, and acts of service for others. He was always willing to lend a hand and never complained about any of the crazy things Cindy volunteered him to do. He will always be remembered for his fun-loving spirit, his boisterous laugh, his homemade ice cream and the amount of pepper he put on everything. His laughter will be the soundtrack to countless cherished memories.
Perry was the loving and faithful son to Marilyn Cox Flinn and stepmother, Karen Nichols. He was preceded in death by father, James Nichols, stepfathers, Durard Cremer, and Don Flinn, and nephew Jessie Inman.
He is survived by his wife Cindy, their three sons, Jason Laurent, Matthew Laurent, and Daniel Laurent (Kelsey); grandchildren, Miles and Arthur Laurent; sisters, Diana Grossarth (Don), Denice Nichols, Christina Gilbert (Tom), Corrie Nichols, Jeanna Thunderhawk, Kelly Laughlin, Stacy Doree, and Terri Dovico; brothers, Jeff Nichols Michael Cremer, Dean Cremer; nieces; nephew; and cousins.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
A memorial service to celebrate Perry's life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Christian Fellowship. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Rest in peace, Perry. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

I'm sorry to hear of Perry's passing. He often sent me a text after a Cardinals win saying "That's a winner". I also played golf with Perry for a couple of years. My condolences to his family.
