Perry "David" Powell

Perry David Powell, age 69, passed away February 12, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. David was born February 8, 1956, in Lincoln County, to the late Perry “Earl” and Betty Taylor Powell.

 

David had an entrepreneurial spirit. Years ago, he worked alongside his brother, Jim, to successfully operate a local supermarket. He had a keen attention to detail, always ensuring labels were faced forward and products looked presentable. David also had a passion for flea markets. He found joy in the little treasures that many overlooked. David loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to the Word and attending church.

 

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Powell; and sister-in-law, Mary Wood Powell. 

 

Survivors include his siblings, Jimmy Powell, Deborah Powell Parker, Jerry Powell, Toney Powell, Johnny Powell, and Earlene “Lenee” Powell; son, Samuel Powell (Candice); and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, with Evangelist Johnny M. Powell and Pastor Ken Choate officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:15 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
