Loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Child of God, Wayne Ellis Hoyle, age 89, of Vale entered his Heavenly home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. He was born June 13, 1936, in Connelly Springs, NC to Haywood and Ivey Brittain Hoyle.
He was owner operator of Hoyles Superette for many years. He also was custodian at Glen Alpine Elementary School in Morganton for years. He loved hunting deer, turtles, and doves, along with many others. Fishing with family and friends always held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed NFL football and NASCAR, but the West Lincoln High School varsity football games were his favorite. He was so proud of the team and coaches. Every chance he got, he went to their games. Pulling for, talking about, and bragging on the Rebels made him very happy. He also loved gardening and was proud of his yearly garden. He shared whatever he grew with the community. He also enjoyed visiting family and friends and just talking to everyone. He never met a stranger. His contagious smile and laughter followed him wherever he went. He was well loved by everyone who met him.
As he entered heaven, he was greeted by his Mother and Father, and his wife of 33 years, Virginia Hoyle. Three brothers: Ralph, Joe, and Clyde Hoyle. Three sisters: Prue Dungeon, Betty Walker, and Shirley Crotts. And many other family, cousins and friends.
He left behind to cherish his memory two sisters: Mozelle Ward (Harold) of Connelly Springs, and Abbie Shook of Connelly Springs. Two daughters: Rebecca Coffey (Alan) of Vale, Reba Burns (Bobby) of Lincolnton. Three grandsons: Chuck Mallory (Courtney) of Vale, Brian Wellman (Kalin) of Crouse, Aron Wellman (Ashton) of Bessemer City. Six Great Grandchildren: Hannah, Madison, Kenzi, Jaiden, Lauren Wellman and Tucker Mallory. Also feeling his absence are many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Carpenter Porter Funeral Home in Cherryville on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The family request instead of flowers, donations can be made to the church he attended: Fairview Baptist Church, 5051 Fairview Church Rd, Lincolnton NC 28092.
