Pete Bailer

Peter "Pete" John Bailer, Jr., born on July 6, 1960, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 65.

Pete was a 1978 graduate of Martins Ferry High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Bethany College in 1982. During his time at Bethany College, he was a proud member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and the American Chemical Society. His academic journey continued at The Ohio State University School of Dentistry, where he furthered his education. He was a proud member of Local 188 while working for Kalkreuth Roofing. Pete had a passion for the great outdoors, finding joy in fishing, hunting, and any activity that allowed him to connect with nature. He was a Catholic by faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Judith (Oberdick) Bailer, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Ernie and Ann (Cosmo) and Helen (Krantz) Oberdick; and his paternal grandparents, Peter S. Bailer and Anna and John W. "Jack" Davis.

Pete is survived by his brothers, Dr. William (Sherri Alig) Bailer and Mark (Shelly) Bailer. He leaves behind cherished memories with his nieces and nephews: Rebecca Bailer, Alexandrea Bailer, Bubby Bailer, Olivia (Eric) Myers, Leah Bailer, Katelyn (Mason) Kuneff, and Andy Bailer. He was also a loving great-uncle to Emmett and Samuel Myers.

A celebration of Pete's life will be held, allowing family and friends to gather and honor his memory on Saturday, November 29th, 2025 from

4-6PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home in the Elm Grove Chapel in Wheeling, WV. A Catholic vigil service will follow, beginning at 6:00PM. In lieu
