Pete Saverance

     It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Robert Laverne “Pete” Saverance. Mr. Saverance passed away Saturday morning, December 13th, 2025, at the age of 77.

     Born in Lamar, Pete was a son of the late Elijah & Wilma Parnell Saverance. He loved riding his motorcycle, cooking, and would go out of his way to help anyone. He will be remembered by family and friends as a very humble man.

     Surviving to cherish his memory are his children: Kimberly (Victor) Cordone, Bobby (Carol Gray) Saverance, and Wendy Dotts; grandchildren: Damien Dotts, Samantha (Tyler) Bryant, Nicolas Price, and Dakota Dotts; great-grandchildren, Tucker Bryant and Trevor Bryant; and a sister, Jean Atkinson.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly H. Saverance; grandson, Shane Saverance; and a brother, Buddy Saverance.

     His funeral service will be conducted at 2 o’clock on Thursday afternoon, December 18th, 2025, from the Bishopville Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Reverend Olin Kirkland will officiate with a committal following in the Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

     Anytime you asked Pete what he would like as a gift, he would kindly ask that instead of a gift for him, please make a donation to St. Jude’s. With that in mind, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital – 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

     Also, the family respectfully asks for no visitors at the home right now, but they do look forward to welcoming you at the visitation.
