Peter Allen Broehl

Peter Broehl, a man of boundless kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion, passed away peacefully at his home in Sparta, Tennessee on October 22, 2025. Peter left behind a legacy of love, service and integrity that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Pete was born on February 2, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Peter Broehl and Jane Bisantz Broehl.
In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Broehl and sister Kathy Brooks.
Pete is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Garrott Broehl, daughter (and right-hand man) Hope Jackson (Doug), grandchildren Ava and Thomas Jackson, and sister Linda Rasmussen (Keith)
An avid hiker and lover of nature, Pete found peace among the trees and trails where the world seemed to slow, and gratitude came easily. His love for the outdoors reflected the way he lived, steadfast, humble, and always in awe of life's simple beauty. This love of nature led to him being named official photographer, record keeper, and treasurer for Tennessee Trails.
Pete proudly served is country with honor in the United States Air Force, completing two tours in Vietnam. His deep patriotism and respect for fellow service members continued throughout his life through his involvement with the American Legion, VFW, and Masonic Lodge. He embodied the true spirit of brotherhood and community, offering compassion wherever needed.
Music, art, and the joy of creativity held a special place in Pete's heart. Supporting local musicians, school bands, and symphonies with genuine enthusiasm, always believing that music had the power to uplift and connect people. The holidays always featured Pete as Santa Clause, a job he loved and took very seriously.
In quieter moments you could find a chessboard nearby, relishing both the challenge and companionship that came with each game. Pete "Papa Pete" was a man who wore so many hats and held many roles throughout his life, a giant in his own right, Pete was a mentor, cheerleader, driver, dad, husband, papa, and friend.
A life well lived, a soul well loved, Peter Broehl will be deeply missed and forever remembered
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Friends of Scott's Gulf in Pete's memory.
In honor of Pete and his legacy, his family invites all who knew and loved him to celebrate his life on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 1PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
