Dad,
I can´t believe you are gone, yet at the same time I am happy that you no longer need to suffer. I want you to know how brave I think you are, you faced this battle heroically for more than 2 decades, and you serve as an excellent role model for those facing the similar diagnosis and challenges. It can´t go unstated that during this fight you continued to be a good friend, a great colleague, an excellent PopPop, and as you reminded me recently, always a father. I want you to know that you did good, I´ve told you this, but maybe not enough. You raised two strong minded children, you taught us the value of hard work, the importance of work ethic, but most importantly you loved us and we knew that. For myself, I can say that we didn´t always agree, we didn´t always get along, we weren´t always happy with each other, but I never felt unloved and we always found our way back to each other. I am proud to be your son, I am proud to be a Szewczuk. I´m grateful that we got to spend a lot more time together this year, I´m grateful that my final words to you were "Love you Dad", it was important to me that you truly knew and understood that. For my family, I want you to know how much my wife and kids loved you. You had a big personality with the kids, you always made them laugh, and they were always excited to get to spend time with PopPop because you made them feel special and maybe gave them a glimpse into how much you had shaped my personality. Rest easy Chief, we´ll take it from here, you have prepared us well.
I love you,
Larry
