Peter Caldwell Campbell lll completed his earthly journey on May 7, 2023 peacefully at the home of good friends. Pete was born September 29, 1967. His loving mother and father faithfully raised him in several beautiful homes and communities in Louisville, also Jefferson and Oldham Counties, Ky. Pete was preceded in death by his father Dr. Peter Caldwell Campbell, Jr., and survived by his mother JoAnn and sister Whitney.
He was blessed to have grown up in the Highlands of Louisville, then Anchorage, Ky, and later Crestwood, Ky where they owned a beautiful home on a small horse farm. In his childhood and youth, Pete enjoyed fishing, frolicking, and golf. Being of huge stature and physical strength, his golf drives were often unable to trace because he would either literally destroy the ball, or hit it so far that no one could see where it landed. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary, Anchorage Middle School, Trinity High School, and later graduated from Ballard High School.
He served as a volunteer firefighter as a teenager and beyond. In his twenties, he worked at night providing security as bouncer at the renowned Toy Tiger Lounge. There, he earned the reputation of handling difficult and unruly behavior with de-escalating skills and mostly non-violent interventions. He also worked as a public servant for 17 years as a 911 supervisor for Louisville Metro Government. He was effective, caring, and skillful at his job, yet he had to eventually resign due to the stress and trauma associated therewith.
In line with his father's love, dedication, and support for the University of Louisville, Pete was also one of the most faithful UofL sports fans in the Louisville area and he led a prominent sports chat forum (AKA: Tattooed Card Fan).
Growing up on a small horse farm, he shared his family's love for Thoroughbred horses, racing, and handicapping. In fact, on his last day living, he picked all four winning horses of the eighth race of Derby Day. That day and night, he was with good friends enjoying the Derby. Sometime in the early morning, his ultimate race came to an end.
Though Pete did not feel comfortable attending church services, he was a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and a warrior of Truth. He is most certainly now in a better place. He will be missed dearly by his family, loved ones, and friends.
Funeral service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, May 15th at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery
Visitation 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, May 14th, at Pearson's.
Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes to Remember."

When I first met Pete we were in 3rd or 4th grade at Anchorage Elementary school. Our first get together was a `Rumble´ behind the library between Peter/Gary Cooper and myself and Teddy Strange. We were going to fight each other. Well, no fighting ever took place and we decided that it would be better if we all just became friends and hung out. My family moved out of Anchorage and Pete and I lost touch. We reconnected again in high school when he came to Ballard. We were roommates at one point when he lived by UL. I´ll never forget the graduation party that we threw at his parents house when they were out of town once. That was probably the best party ever thrown during our high school years. It took 10 of us all day the next day to clean up before his parents came home. I´ll miss you my friend! RIP.

I worked with Pete for many years at LPD and MetroSafe. Pete was one of the nicest, kindest people I have ever known. I am so very sorry to learn of his passing. Deepest sympathy to his family. You will be in my prayers.
