Peter Anthony DiMario

Peter Anthony DiMario passed away after a brief illness on January 19, 2024, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
Peter grew up in Pelham, New York. He was born on May 30,1962 in the Bronx to Domenica (DeVito) and Salvatore DiMario. He relocated to Dover after retiring from New York City Off-track Beting Corporation after 29 years as a clerk and branch manager.
Peter was an avid sports fan who followed his beloved New York Mets and the New York Giants. He was also a student of both the Standardbred and Thoroughbred racing industries. In 1982 Peter was on the team that raced "Runaway Groom", who won the Travers Stakes and was the three-year-old Canadian Horse of the Year. Peter returned to Saratoga every summer for the racing season.
Peter is survived by his sister, Angela Armutcu, and her husband Mithat, of Lewes, his niece Talia of Lewes and his brother Salvatore and his wife Colleen of Dover and a special cousin Michael Carrozza also of Dover. He was a great friend of many especially Joe Scalisi, Jimmy Savanetti and Freddy Mendez.
There will be a service in New York in early Spring with interment at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York with his parents.
