Peter Hans Gernand

Peter Hans Gernand of Cottrellville, Michigan, born May 12, 1945, in Darmstadt, Germany, a proud war veteran, devoted husband, and steadfast servant to others, passed away on September 7, 2025, surrounded by his family. Peter lived a life defined by service, integrity, and love. He bravely served his country with honor and dedication, carrying those same values into every part of his life. After his military service, Peter continued to dedicate himself to his community as a police officer for 30 years, protecting and serving with courage, fairness, and compassion. Beyond his career, he was known for his generosity, kindness, and quiet strength-always putting the needs of others before his own. He was a loving husband of Carol and the proud father of Paul (Cindy), Julie (Chad), Daniel (Donna), and Bethany. His legacy of love and wisdom lives on through his grandchildren-Christopher, Julianne, Zildjian, Elizabeth, and Mex-and his great-grandson, Vincent. Peter's family and friends will remember him as a man of deep conviction, unwavering loyalty, and endless compassion. He cherished time with his loved ones and found great joy in watching his family grow. His life was a testament to the values of service, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Though he will be deeply missed, Peter's spirit continues to live on in the lives of those he touched. His family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy of service and love will endure for generations to come.
