Randy was born July 23rd, 1960, in Muncie, Indiana, the son of the late Orville and Julia Gernand, who preceded him in glory.
He was a graduate of Yorktown high school, class of 1978. Randy married his loving wife, Janet Dixon, on January 20th, 1995, at Mt. Pleasant Church in Daleville, IN. They would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this coming January.

Randy and Janet had two "adopted" sons, Jeremy Duncan and Chris Gross, who lived with them for a period of time.
Grandchildren include Caleb Sprague; Grayson, Hazel, Tucker, and Fletcher Davis; Rio Gernand; Sadie and Callen Phipps.

He's also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and his mother-in-law, Jan Dixon...who was his buddy... along with his sisters-in-law, Julie Cassady, Jamalyn Smart and brother-in-law, Jerry Dixon.
Randy was known for his honesty, kindness, generosity and great sense of humor, which he maintained until the very end despite the amount of pain he was in. He had a passion for muscle cars, racing, playing drums, flying model airplanes and spray paint art. Randy was a gifted mechanic and the owner of Randy Gernand Automotive in Daleville Indiana, that his son, Matthew, continues to operate.
Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work ethic, dedication and love of helping others. Randy, Janet and their children started attending Tabor Church in 2004 where he played drums on their worship team. He was a phenomenal drummer who loved worshiping the Lord to music.
