Peter A. Helmer
Ledgewood: Peter A. Helmer passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023 with his son and youngest daughter at his side. He was 85 years old. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan.
Peter worked at L.E. Carpenter in Wharton; Quest International in Mt. Olive and most recently was working at St. Bernard's Church in Rockaway Township.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfons & Louise (Baumann), his brother Paul and his sisters Barbara Ginda and Louise Helmer-Morgan.
He leaves behind four devoted children, Linda Stalter of Harvest, AL, Sue Robinson and her husband, Jim of Chester, MD, Peter Helmer and his wife Karen of Succasunna, NJ and Cindy Petsch and her husband, Joe of Hellertown, PA; his adoring grandchildren, Jennifer Corbo and her husband, Lenny, Kerri Lisboa and her husband Joe, Corri Bates, Kacie Lochmueller and her husband Jared, Ashtin Castor and her husband Joe, Emily Helmer, Shannon Petsch and Kyle Petsch; and eleven precious great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his brothers Steven, Gerald and Thomas, his sister Ruth and many nieces and nephews.
His greatest joys were with his family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of his life, especially after losing his beloved Joan in 2011. He will be remembered for a lifetime of love that he expressed in his own, unique way. He will be truly missed and will forever carry on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Peter was a spiritual man and he was an avid football fan of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. One of his most treasured lifetime experiences was traveling to Notre Dame with his son and getting to see them play in their home stadium.
Peter's final request was that a private service be held with his children and grandchildren. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Joan at St. Mary's Cemetery in Whippany, NJ.
Peter had a special place in his heart for all his "little angels", as he called them, at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Pete's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
