Peter Swen Hesla

The funeral service for Peter Swen Hesla, 68, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 11:00am, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at New Life Fellowship, with Pastor Rodney Johnson officiating. Burial at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Pete died Wednesday, August 10, at his home in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00pm, Monday, with family present from 5:00-7:00pm, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.
Peter Pete Swen Hesla was born November 2, 1953, to Wendell and Betty (Jeske) Hesla in Webster, SD. He grew up and attended country school there. Pete graduated from Webster High School in 1971.
On December 10, 1977, Pete was united in marriage to Sheila Schlecht in Webster. They moved to Aberdeen in 1981. Pete began work for the Aberdeen Wastewater Treatment Plant as an operator and retired as superintendent. Pete built many strong friendships over the years working for the city.
Pete was a member of New Life Thursday Morning Men s Group. He enjoyed golfing at Rolling Hills and giving his favorite granddaughters golf cart rides. Favorite pastimes included long country drives and singing in the shower. Pete was a history buff and loved to share that knowledge with others. He enjoyed researching, learning, and creating spread sheets for anything imaginable.
Grateful for having shared Pete s life are his wife, Sheila Hesla, his daughter Kristen and her husband Eric Hamiel, granddaughters Emeri and Eliza Hamiel, sister Janice (Kirk) Markland, and brothers Timothy (Emily) Hesla, Kent Hesla, and David (Rosemary) Hesla.
Preceding Pete in death are his parents Wendell and Betty Hesla.
