Peter K. Hofer passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, entering into the presence of Christ. Born on May 27, 1935, Peter was the son of the late Peter and Susie Hofer of King Colony near Lewistown, Montana. Growing up in King Colony, Peter developed many skills. At 14, he learned the art of sheep shearing and joined a crew that traveled throughout Montana, serving local ranchers. His true passion was farming. The wheat fields were his heaven; he loved planting seeds, fertilizing, praying for rain, and watching his crops grow. Hailstorm-free harvest seasons were a particular blessing to him. Peter served for many years as the farm boss for King Colony, a role he continued after moving to the Flat Willow Ranch, where he lived until his passing.
Peter was preceded in death by his sister, Susie Walter of Lodge Grass, MT.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Katie. They met and fell head over heels in love in a Bing cherry orchard in Flathead, a moment that marked the beginning of their shared story. He is also survived by his son, George (Esther) Hofer of Espanola Colony in Washington, and six daughters: Judy (Tom) Walter of Lewistown, MT; Kathy (James) Walter of Lewistown, MT; Tess (Glenn) Shipp of Absarokee, MT; Becky (Tim) Stahl of Absarokee, MT; Ann (Jonty) Stahl of Roundup, MT; and Grace (Mitch) Murray of Helena, MT. Peter and Katie were blessed with 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five more "wildflowers" soon to join the family. He is also survived by his brother, George (Betty) Hofer of Roundup, MT; Mrs. Rachel Walter of Lewistown, MT; and Mrs. Mary Walter of Lodge Grass, MT.
Peter cherished his family and deeply appreciated his many friends, both near and far. Rest in peace now, and behold, the harvest is ripe.
