Peter Johnson Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Peter Clarke Johnson Sr., 77, of Marlborough passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Peter was born in Sudbury, the son of the Late John E. and Marian J. (Clarke) Johnson. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury High School in 1966. He earned 3 Masters +50 (credits towards his doctorate) and served proudly in the US Army in Vietnam and in the Air Force reserves, achieving the rank of Senior Master Sargent. He devoted much of his time to the community as a teacher in the Marlborough Public School System and in youth sports, where he was active as a soccer coach and referee assessor.
Peter is survived by his wife of 51 ½ years, Donna (Cato) Johnson of Marlborough, his son Peter C. Johnson II and his wife Rose Preziosi-Johnson of Holden, his son Paul D. Johnson II and his wife Rebecca of Hudson, his daughter Stephanie Cussen and her husband Brian of Marlborough and 6 grandchildren, Lily, Beatrix, Felicity, Jack, Zach and Iris, 1 brother, Nels Johnson and his wife Mary, as well as many loved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Peter was predeceased by his brother Paul D. Johnson I and his sister Valerie Newcomb.
Peter loved his wife with an unbridled passion that was evident to anyone blessed to be in their company. Second, only to Donna was his love for his children and grandchildren. He was also very fond of his daughters-in-law and son-in-law. He enjoyed tinkering in his sheds and garages and took great pride in his ability to fix anything, however crudely. He was fiercely patriotic and valued the many relationships he cultivated throughout his childhood and his military career.
His sense of humor and compassion will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held in the Short and Rowe Funeral Home on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 4-6 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street, Marlborough, MA.
Burial will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peter's name to Lewy Body Dementia Association at https://www.lbda.org/donate/ or Vietnam Agent Orange Relief & Responsibility Campaign, P.O. Box 303 - Prince Station, New York, NY 10012-0006 or online at https://www.vn-agentorange.org/donate.html
