Obituary of Peter Reeves Klank
Peter Reeves Klank passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023. He was born on January 10, 1956, in Princeton, N.J., to Elizabeth Reeves and Howard Klank. He was a long-time resident of Belchertown, Massachusetts. He was a proud graduate of Woodstock H.S., Vermont; Marlboro College, Vermont; and held a MFA from Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, North Carolina. Peter was a gifted fiction writer and worked in human services. He immensely enjoyed the family cabin in the Adirondacks where he was at peace with nature and enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by his amazing, longtime friend, partner, and wife of 39 years, Rhonda Young; and extended family Marsha Willan, Bill Willan, Glenna Young, Konie and Andy Hughes, Leah and Gil Hartley, Jana Willan, Kerby Hughes, Alex Bhandari-Young, Solomon Bhandari-Young, Leslie Hartley, Sara Hartley, Jacob Mitchell; cousins Cynthia, Katherine, MaryBeth, Richard, Chris, Linda, Loretta, Jean, and other family too numerous to mention here; and faithful cats Tillie and Charlotte. Peter brought happiness to everyone who knew him. He leaves behind his Warren Wilson writing community and many special friends. He had said, when asked what his final thought would be: "Well, that was mostly fun." Peter passed away peacefully listening to the Grateful Dead with Rhonda holding his hand. There will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mary Anne's Kids at http://chd.org/programs-services/early-childhood-intervention-services-western-ma/mary-annes-kids/

Peter was a great dude with whom I hung out a lot at Marlboro. After the car crash in Brattleboro where most of the kids were thrown out of the car Pete was sort of thrown out in the space between the hood and the windshield with the car upside down. One of the cops said to the other "I think we gotta a dead one here" to which Pete responded "the hell I am!" in his classic deadpan style. Miss you dude!

We got to know Peter when he and Rhonda moved into a small house we owned in the center of Belchertown. They were great tenants and they could have stayed forever except a family member needed the space. Peter was gentle and friendly and It was relaxing to be around him. Our love to Rhonda, we will be here if she needs anything. Steve and Meg Lanphear

We traveled to New York City in77´-78´ to see the DeKooning show from Vermont never made it to the show. We found a "brew and Burger" in Times Square (not the corporate theme park of today) for $5 we got a burger and all the beer we could consume and stayed for about 8 hours entertaining the staff who were amazed that we came from Vermont.
