Peter Lerario, age 96, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Montgomery County, MD passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Menno Haven Village Square. Born in Washington, D.C. on January 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Colaprico Lerario.
Mr. Lerario served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Xavier University of Cincinnati and his master’s from the University of Maryland. He was a beloved high school teacher and football coach at St. John’s and Gonzaga in Washington DC, and Springbrook and Woodward in Montgomery County, MD.
Mr. Lerario was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the VFW Post 1599, the American Football Coaches Association, and the Maryland High School Coaches Hall of Fame.
Surviving are three children, Thomas X. Lerario (wife Karen) of Millersville, MD, Marisa Dudiak (husband Stephen) of Dallas, TX, and Michael Lerario (wife Martha) of Fayetteville, NC; five grandchildren, Cara Dudiak (Tori), Dominic Lerario (Elizabeth), Harrison Lerario (Caitlin), Jenna Stutte (Josh), and Peter Lerario (Samantha); and five great grandchildren, Lylah Grace, Finley, Paris, Noah, Miller Louise, and two on the way.
In May, Peter was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Louise Lerario.
A Memorial Mass for both Louise and Peter will be offered on Friday February 14, 2025, at 11 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Fr. Allan Wolfe will celebrate. Inurnment will be in the Corpus Christi Church Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
