Robert E. “Bob” Lewis, 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at WellSpan York Hospital. Born December 4, 1938, in Hamilton County, IN, he was the son of the late Earl and Rosemary McGlone Lewis.
Following his high school graduation, Bob earned an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering from the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. He was employed as a mechanical engineer with Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems where he worked for many years. Bob attended St. John’s United Church of Christ in Chambersburg and was a member of the Chambersburg Country Club. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra Karper Lewis, whom he married on July 15, 2000; two children, Shirley Deanne Kirschner (Kevin McAteer) of Moorpark, CA, and Robert Paul Lewis (Vickie) of Morehead, MI; two step-children, Carol MacDonald (Jack) of Winchester, VA, and Tom Smith (Tina) of Chambersburg, PA; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; and his sister, Beverly Joann Bailey (Ed) of Plainfield, IN. Aside from his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Lauren Sue Hunt in 2020.
A memorial service to honor Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1811 Lincoln Way E., Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Caroline Saxton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army at easternusa.salvationarmy.org/eastern-pennsylvania/chambersburg or to a charity of one’s choice.
