Peter Joseph Lopez was born on Tuesday, March 19, 1957, in Los Angeles, California. The third child of Peter and Isabel Lopez, he attended Nativity Catholic School, Bishop Amat High School and graduated from El Monte High in 1975. Peter was "a natural" at sports, competing in wrestling, baseball and football in high school. He was highly popular among his classmates and had many friends throughout his school days. The proof is in his yearbooks!

Peter's first job was delivering a paper route. He held various jobs in his youth, working at a donut shop and a liquor store to name a few. Peter found his true talents in tilework and joined the Bricklayers Union to support his family. He was an artist, very proud of his work and always taking pictures of his projects from start to finish.

Peter has four children, two sons and two daughters. He was immensely proud of his offspring; always the loudest dad at his kids' sports events… he occasionally was red-carded and made to leave… but it wasn't his fault. Peter loved his children more than anything and he wanted the world to know it! Peter became a grandfather in 2018, and this was truly his crowning glory. He loved visiting his granddaughters, bringing donuts, making them laugh, telling stories and just taking in all their precious love for him. He was their "Funny Grandpa".

Peter loved Our Lord and trained up his children to pray, repent, and trust in God. Peter would say to his children: "respect your elders, always say 'please and thank you', give a good-strong handshake, and look people in the eye when you're talking to them". These are the simple yet priceless values he found important and instilled in his children. Peter always worked hard! He toiled countless weekends to make ends meet for his family of six. He took on side-jobs well into his 50's, decorating hundreds of homes with his skilled hands and creative mind. He retired at 62 and devoted the rest of his life to his "one true love" ... GOLF.

Peter's later life passion was the noble game of golf. He loved nothing more than being out on the green with his favorite golf buddies; his sons and sons-in-law. Peter also loved hunting estate sales and garage sales with his daughters. He collected golf memorabilia, silver coins, stamps and any little bauble that charmed him. He loved movies and books, especially those of the historical genre. Peter loved his country and was a proud American, always displaying honor and respect to our U.S. Flag and National Anthem.

Peter was a sentimental man with a gigantic heart full of compassion. He would do anything for the ones he loved. Rest in Peace.

Peter is survived by his children: Stephanie Marin, Aaron Lopez, David Lopez, Danielle Hull; granddaughters: Josephine Hull, Daphne Hull, Moira Hull; and siblings: Isabel Aust, Sylvia Whitaker, and Louie Lopes.
