Peter Howard MacGregor, 77, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, surrounded by family.
Peter was a devoted husband to Bea, a loving father to Ian (Lynn), David (Aubrey), Daniel (Myndi), Mark (Kristin), and Matthew, and a proud grandfather to Trevor, Christina, Aidan, Reagan, Riley, Grant, and Willow. He was also a great-grandfather to Myla, brother to Ian and Kathryn (Dave), and son to Neil and Mary MacGregor. Colleagues remember him fondly for his good nature and meticulous work at NRL, CSC, Harris, STI, and SGSS.

Born in the United Kingdom in 1947, Peter spent his early years abroad as his father served as an admiral in the British Navy. His childhood was shaped by a life of travel, with family moves to Australia and then across the United States-including Boston, Baltimore, Los Angeles, and Northern Virginia. A gifted student with a passion for music and a curious mind, he explored many interests and earned a degree in mathematics-a discipline that set the course for his career.

His career as a computer engineer began in the early days of the technology revolution, and by the 1970s, Peter was among the pioneering programmers working on satellite systems. In 1979, his work led him to Florida, followed by moves to Arizona and New Mexico, before ultimately settling with his wife Bea and children in Melbourne, Florida, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

After retiring in 2018, Peter turned his focus to the things he loved most-reading, exercising, and immersing himself in music. He played flute in a regional performance orchestra and surrounded himself with a library of his favorite books and a collection of musical instruments.
Peter will be remembered as a pure and unassuming soul-brilliant, kind, incredibly funny and honest to a fault. He was a man of few words, but his quiet presence said everything. Those who knew him felt his love deeply, and loved him wholeheartedly in return. His connection with his siblings, Ian and Kathryn, was lifelong and unshakable-despite living miles apart, they shared the same sense of humor and a closeness that never faded.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Brownlie & Maxwell Funeral Home, 1010 E. Palmetto Avenue, Melbourne, FL 32901.

As the family reflects on Peter's life, a line from one of his favorite Beatles songs feels especially fitting:

"But of all these friends and lovers, there is no one compares with you.
And these memories lose their meaning when I think of love as something new.
Though I know I'll never lose affection for people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them.
In my life I love you more."
