Peter Malouf, 83, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at St. Peter's University Medical Center in New Brunswick surrounded by his loving family.
Peter Malouf lived a rich and fulfilling life dedicated to his community and family. Born on December 2, 1940, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to the late Peter and Virginia (Bahash) Malouf, he spent his formative years in North Brunswick before settling in Milltown for nearly six decades. His life was marked by diverse achievements and contributions.
From a young age, Peter was deeply involved in his community and faith. He served as an altar boy and excelled as an athlete, participating in multiple sports and later becoming a Rutgers baseball player. His passion for sports extended beyond playing; he coached various sports, served as an umpire for baseball and softball, and refereed soccer and basketball games. Peter also held the position of Director of Recreation for Milltown, where he organized youth programs that positively impacted many lives.
Education was another cornerstone of Peter's career. He dedicated an impressive 38 ½ years as a health and physical education teacher in the North Brunswick Township Schools, influencing generations of students. His commitment to education mirrored his devotion to his faith as a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Milltown.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Peter cherished his family life. He married Carol Malouf on June 27, 1964, and together they shared a love of travel, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and enjoying vacations at the Jersey Shore with extended family gatherings. Known for his sense of humor, Peter had a knack for making others laugh and was always ready with a joke to share.
Peter Malouf's life was one of service, laughter, and love. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Malouf, and his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Catherine Malouf. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched as a teacher, coach, mentor, and friend.
He is survived by his son, Robert Malouf; his daughters, Donna Malouf, Janet Malouf and her partner Chris Michal, and Linda Lewis and her husband James. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Malouf and his wife Marilyn; his sister, Judith Collins and her husband Robert; his eleven grandchildren, Monique Malouf, Ashley Collimore, Amanda Lewis, Rebecca Collimore, Jennifer Lewis, Cassandra Collimore, Kimberly Malouf, Logan Lewis, Erika Malouf, Jackson Malouf, and Peyton Collimore, as well as his eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 8:30 A.M. at the Gleason Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Milltown. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in East Brunswick.
