George Balram Obituary

Born in Alness, Guyana, he moved to the United States in 1990, settling in Philadelphia before moving to New Brunswick in 1996.
He worked as a Housekeeper in Environmental Services at St. Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick before his retirement.
George enjoyed playing cricket when he lived in Guyana. He also served as a village protector and vigilante, helping to keep his community safe and protecting his family, friends and loved ones. A strong role model and disciplinarian, he also loved music, dancing and spending time with his family.
He was the husband of the late Basmattie (2020).
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Balram of Brooklyn, NY, Kenneth & Veda Balram of South Plainfield, David & Devika Balram of Dayton and Nauvin Balram of Queens, NY; daughters and sons-in-law, Vineta & Romeo Persaud of Port St. Lucie, FL, Anita Narine of North Brunswick, and Sanita & Clifford Budhoo of New Brunswick; sisters, Jeannete Crandon and Rehanna Cort, both of Guyana; 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20th, 10 AM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset with funeral services at 11 AM. Burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick.
