Peter Stefano Israel Matteson, affectionately known as Peter to his friends and loved ones, left this world too soon on August 5, 2025, at the age of 25. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, on June 26, 2000, Peter was a beacon of joy and laughter to all who knew him. His presence was a gift, and his memory will be cherished forever.

Peter's early years in Greenville were filled with the warmth of a loving family. He was the cherished son of GiGi Budove Guthrie and William E. Matteson III, and the beloved stepson of Opal Matteson. Peter grew up surrounded by his siblings, Jacob Matteson and his wife Alexis, Scarlett Matteson, Will Matteson IV, Caleb Mays, Atira Pennington, Joshua Budove-Guthrie, Alex Springfield, and Shane Nelson, all of whom shared an unbreakable bond with him. Peter was predeceased by his brothers Cameron Mays, and Joseph Mays III.

His marriage to the love of his life, Desiree Matteson, was a testament to his loving nature and devotion to family. Peter also held a special place in the hearts of his in-laws, Heather and Herbie Roe, who adored him as their own.

Professionally, Peter dedicated his time to UPS, where his work ethic and friendly demeanor earned him the respect and friendship of his colleagues. His commitment to his job was evident in the care and diligence he brought to his role every day.

Peter's interests and hobbies brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him. An avid gamer, he relished the virtual worlds of Call of Duty and Rocket League, among many others, and was always eager to share his passion with friends. Peter's sense of humor shone through in every aspect of his life, making him the life of any gathering. His laughter was infectious, and his ability to light up a room was unparalleled.

Above all, Peter's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He treasured every moment spent with his wife, and his love for her was evident to all who witnessed their bond. Peter's friendly nature made him a beloved figure in his community, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Peter's legacy is one of love, laughter, and friendship. His life, though brief, was lived to the fullest, and the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who loved him. As we bid farewell to Peter Stefano Israel Matteson, we do so with heavy hearts, but also with gratitude for the time we were privileged to share with him. His spirit will live on in the stories we tell and the love we carry for him in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Peter. Your journey was a beautiful one, and you will be profoundly missed.
