Peter McKee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fairmount Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory on Mar. 30, 2026.
Peter "Pete" McKee, 31, passed away after a difficult illness at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, CO on Friday the 13th, 2026.

He was born to Bill and Marguerite McKee in Rochester, NY, the youngest of four children. He graduated from The University of Albany School of Business in 2017. There, he met the love of his life, Lilly, and his adopted best friend Greyson. Pete and Lilly married on September the 21st, 2021 to the tune of "September" by his favorite band Earth, Wind, and Fire. He worked as a senior staff accountant at Tarian since 2018, where he was able to build life-long friendships.

To know Pete was to love him, and his true gift was sharing laughter and making others feel welcomed and cherished. He loved playing video games (especially Pokemon), trying new restaurants with friends, reading, listening to music, going to the zoo, feeding the birds, watching baseball (the St. Louis Cardinals), and spending quality time with Lilly and Greyson.

Pete is survived by his love of almost 10 years Lilly Borntraeger, and their beloved cat Greyson; parents Bill and Marguerite; siblings Heather, Chris and Stephanie (Peter); nephews Lucas and Grant; niece Scarlett; and many other treasured family and friends. He is predeceased by his grandmother Goat and nephew Isaac.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance; Pete's favorite zoo exhibits were the Otters and Fisher Cats. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date, to honor him and share wonderful memories.
