Peter Joseph Meade passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Miltown Malbay, County Clare, Ireland, Peter was predeceased by his beloved parents, Joseph and Mary Meade, as well as his brothers Micheal and Jody. He is survived by his siblings: Fr. John, Patrick, Mary, and Gerald. His upbringing in Ireland instilled in him the deep faith, quiet humility, and strong sense of family that would define him throughout his life.

Peter was the devoted husband of the late Mary Meade, his beloved partner of 60 years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. A legacy that continues through their children and grandchildren.

He was the proud and loving father of John Meade and his wife Ann of Needham; Peter Meade and his wife Jodi of Stoneham; Kevin Meade and his wife Molly of Milton; Brian Meade and his wife Jennifer of Needham; and Maureen Roycroft and her husband Alan of Westwood.

Affectionately known as “Poppy,” Peter was a cherished grandfather to Kevin, Peter, Ryan, Allison, Grace, Chris, Matthew, and Sophia Meade, and Sarah, Katie, and Jack Roycroft. His steady presence, quiet wisdom, and boundless love were a constant gift in their lives.

Peter proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves and went on to have a successful 36-year career with Honeywell Corporation, followed by six more years at Boston College High School. His professional life reflected the same values he carried at home; dedication, integrity, and humility.

A man deeply committed to his community, Peter gave generously of his time and talents. He spent many years coaching youth soccer, eventually becoming President of the Needham Soccer Club, where he helped grow and strengthen the program. He also served as a Town Meeting Member in Needham and was a longtime Eucharistic Minister, first at St. Bartholomew Church in Needham and later at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Westwood and Peter was a member of the Needham Knights of Columbus.

Peter will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a generous friend, and a quiet but steadfast leader. His warmth, kindness, and integrity touched everyone who knew him, and his legacy lives on in the countless lives he influenced.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Visting Hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St., Westwood on Thursday October 2nd from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning October 3rd at 10:00 am in St Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St. Westwood. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 57 Wellesley Ave, Needham.
