Peter Micca went to be with his Lord on January 3, 2026, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Illinois. It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Pete, age 93, of Eureka. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, who are grateful to have witnessed him live a long and full life.

Pete was born at home in the town of Roanoke, Illinois, on December 30th, 1932, to Peter Micca and Margaret (Mag) Monge Micca. On June 24th, 1978, Pete married Mary Sylvia Vaughn Bachman. Together, they shared a blended family of seven children. As a child he loved to fish and be outdoors. Fishing was something Pete would continue to love throughout his life.

When it was time Pete began his career as a welder with Roecker Brothers and later worked at Parson’s Manufacturing and O'Brien Steel. He retired from Durre Brothers in 1995, where he became a purchasing agent for buying steel. Outside of work, Pete enjoyed watching NASCAR, woodworking and serving his community. He lovingly crafted many pieces of furniture for his children and family.

Pete proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951-1953 aboard the USS Everglades during the Korean Conflict. In 2025, he received his 70-year membership pin from the Roanoke Legion Post 463, where he had previously served as commander. Pete was also a residential committee member of Maple Lawn Community where he and Sylvia made their home.

Pete loved being able to watch his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their extra curricular activities including scholastic bowl and all sports. A large family meant there were a lot of activities to be a fan of. Supporting his family was deeply important to him, and he rarely missed an activity. When he wasn’t cheering from the sidelines with a fresh bag of popcorn, he could be found teaching his grandchildren how to play checkers or the peg game. From the moment Pete became a father until his final breath, he was a devoted family man.

Although Pete enjoyed many hobbies, nothing brought him greater joy than his family and his faith in God. His love for both was evident in his character and daily life. Pete was an active member of the Eureka United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served on various committees.

Pete will be lovingly remembered by Sylvia, his wife of 47 years; his children: Michael (Terri) Bachman of Marquand, MO; Bradley (Marilyn) Bachman of Danvers, IL; Tracy (Christy) Bachman of Eureka, IL; Timothy (Tammy Mason) Micca of Sarasota, FL, Dana (Larry Ulfig) Micca Ulfig of Bradenton, FL; Lisa (Chuck) Noll of Roanoke, IL; and Teresa Bachman (Jeff Allsup) of Peoria, IL; his grandchildren: Shane Hendrickson; Scooter Lenover; Amanda Lenover; Sara Armstrong; Ryan Bachman; Joshua Bachman; Bailey Bachman; Dionna Bachman; Andrew Bachman; Zachary Smith; Jacob Micca; Braden Henrichs; Jacob Noll; Zachary Raymer; McKenzie Scott; Josie Mettes; as well as twenty great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Peter Micca and Margaret (Mag) Monge Micca Schuler; infant daughter Laurel Micca; step sisters Goldy Paluska and Margaret Demmin; great-grandchildren Adam Ellison, Lucas Hendrickson and Ella Toledo.

The family of Pete Micca would like to thank the staff of Eureka Ambulance, Carle BroMenn Medical Center and Eureka United Methodist Church for their care and compassion.

A memorial visitation will be on January 23, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m., held at Eureka United Methodist Church, 208 N. Callender Street, Eureka, IL 61530. Memorial donations may be made in Pete Micca’s name to Eureka United Methodist Church, 208 N. Callender Street, Eureka, IL 61530 or to Greater Peoria Honor Flight, P.O. Box 5072, Peoria IL, 61601.
