Peter Roknich Obituary
Peter was born on March 21,1931 in North Chicago to George and Sava Roknich. Peter grew up in Waukegan, served in the Air Force, and was a graduate of Northern Illinois University and University of Northern Colorado. He was principal at Elm Place Middle School for more than 30 years. Peter was an avid coin and stamp collector, steam train enthusiast, lover of travel, and lifelong Cubs and Blackhawks fan.
He is survived by his sister Donna (Bruce) and daughter Lynn (Bill), sister-in-law Sylvia, grandchildren Brian, Sara and Claire Latimer and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wife, Eleanor and brothers Paul and Eli.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15th 2025 - 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM - Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home - 1787 Deerfield Road, Highland Park, IL 60035. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 - 12:00 PM with the funeral service starting at 1:00 PM - St. Basil Of Ostrog Church - 27450 North Bradley, Lake Forest, IL 60045. Burial will follow at St. Sava Monastery, Libertyville, IL
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously invites you to contribute to the Peter Roknich Teaching Scholarship Endowment fund at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). To donate, please visit the University's website www.give2unc.org, and specify the Peter Roknich Teaching Scholarship Endowment Alternatively, you may write a check to UNC Foundation, Campus Box 20, Greeley, CO 80639 and indicate the Peter Roknich Teaching Scholarship Endowment and Peter's name on the memo line.

Peter will always be celebrated in our hearts! His dedication to education and the Elm Place School community in Highland Park will always be cherished for years to come. He touched the hearts of thousands throughout his lifetime and will always be remembered! My condolences to his family.
