Age 46, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of brilliance, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. A proud son of Peter and Patricia Smith of McMurray, PA, Peter was a gifted attorney whose integrity and honesty earned the trust and admiration of clients and colleagues alike.
Peter was known for his social quirks and a unique sense of humor-often laughing the hardest at his own jokes. While he could be reserved in a crowd, those lucky enough to know him well experienced his one-of-a-kind charm and deeply genuine spirit. Fiercely loyal and deeply compassionate, he stood firmly by the people and causes he loved.
Peter was a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, an avid reader, a devoted animal lover, and a true foodie who found joy in experimenting in the kitchen and sharing meals with those he cared about. A natural athlete, Peter left his mark on the court-none more memorable than the day he calmly sank both shots in a 1-and-1 to send his team to the WPIAL finals, a moment that defined his clutch character and cool demeanor under pressure.
Above all, Peter was a cherished son, brother, nephew, uncle, and partner. He is survived by his parents, Peter and Patricia Smith of McMurray, PA; his brother Nicholas of Ocala, Florida; his sister Sarah, brother-in-law Nick, and their children, Colette and Christian, all of Fort Mill, SC; and his love, Erica Troshak. His niece and nephew fondly called him "Uncle Trouble" for his playful mischief and boundary-pushing fun that delighted them and challenged the rules-always with love and laughter.
Peter's presence was a gift that will be missed beyond measure. His memory will live on in every joke told, every Pittsburgh game watched, every family meal shared, and every heart he touched.

Heartfelt sympathy to the Smith family and friends May the fondest memories fill your hearts. Pete Sr was the best when my father passed, and I met his son during that time. I will never forget the support they offered during a difficult time.

Sending my heartfelt condolences to the entire family. I worked with Peter Sr
many years ago and remember when Pete was born. So very sad to hear.

I would run into Pete every month or so, and almost immediately we would get into an hour long conversation about basketball or whatever game was on. We'd eventually part ways and then a month later we'd pick back up right where we left off. He'd typically be quietly minding his own business at first, but the second we started talking, he'd immediately become one of the most outgoing and friendly people I ever met.

I moved to Pittsburgh about 3 years ago and Pete was one of the funniest and kindest people I've met in my time here. The way he was so welcoming to me has certainly inspired me to do the same for others, and I hope I can continue his legacy in that way going forward. I'll miss you, Pete, and our basketball chats. Rest easy, Mr. Basketball.

This is golfing, buddy Dave Williams, who plays golf with Pete Sr. regularly. Just great memories of very special moments playing a team golf match with my buddy Pete Sr. going up against my son Todd and Peter, who are of similar age at St Clair country club. It was a dog fight. Guess who prevailed?
