Peter "Pete" Straffin, 73, of Tavares, FL, passed away on January 31, 2024, from a long illness. He was born on November 26, 1950, in Whitman, MA. Pete is survived by his significant other, Diane Calias, daughter Kim (Straffin) Drouin and son-in-law John Drouin of Manchester, NH, grandchildren Matt Bilodeau and Ashlee Barrus both of NH, and new Great-Granddaughter Charlotte Barrus. Pete has spent the last thirty years with Diane Calias, and their two dogs, cat, and two birds whom he adored. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Nancy Straffin, and brother Bobby Straffin, all from Whitman, MA.
Peter had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed working outside at the Mobile Home Park where he lived in Tavares. His favorite holiday was Christmas and loved putting up Christmas lights in the mobile park to make others happy. In his earlier years, Peter was an amazing drummer and singer, and was a band member of Utopia back in the 60's in Massachusetts. He had the opportunity to showcase his talents at Nantasket Beach and the Hampton Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, NH. Peter's love for the ocean was evident, as he spent much of his youth at the family cottage in Chatham, MA. Cape Cod.
A celebration of Life Memorial will be held on February 19, 2024, at the Clubhouse at Lakepoint Taveres Mobile Home Park in Tavares, FL, at 11:00 am. This memorial will serve as a time for family and friends to gather and honor the life of Peter Straffin.
