Peter William Towler, 83 years young, of Sarasota, Florida and longtime resident of Concord passed peacefully on August 26th surrounded by his loving family.
Pete was born on December 14th,1941 in Waltham, Massachusetts. He was the eldest son of Bill Towler and Mary (Lennon) Towler and pre-deceased by his sister, Mary Frances and brother, Michael.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Debbie, their daughter Susie Cannistraro and husband Chris, son, Brett, and wife Jennifer and four grandchildren Emma, Sean, Katherine, and William.
Pete began his career at Wentworth Institute of Technology graduating as an electrical engineer and shortly found a calling into law enforcement where he remained his entire career. Graduating from Northeastern University, in Criminal justice, Pete was honored to call himself a Concord Policeman. He took great pride in serving the Town of Concord and after 24 years, he retired as Sergeant. He often spoke of his cherished memories and second family in the Concord PD.
Pete fell in love with Sarasota and he and Debbie enjoyed spending time with their 'southern family' golfing, exploring, attending musicals as well as representing his community as president of his HOA board. He loved cruising, his favorite way to travel, with over fifty cruises, he and Debbie saw the world.
Most of all, Pete loved his family. He was exceptionally close to his local grandchildren, Emma and Sean, living within a few miles of each one another. Pete enjoyed attending their sporting events, school activities and graduations. Pete was incredibly proud of Sean, who chose to follow in his footsteps in law enforcement as a Police Officer.
Pete lived a long life full of light, love, and laughter. Such a character, he was always telling a joke, a funny story or sharing a tale of his beloved Concord history to anyone who would listen. He was a fighter, he fought a long battle with a compromised heart and even at the end of his life, Pete was telling jokes, trying to get a laugh!
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours on Tuesday, October 7th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center.
In lieu of flowers, please keep the laughter going, tell a story, chuckle at a joke, and make someone's day.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dee Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Concord.
