Peter Thomas Westcott, 76, of North Attleboro, MA passed away on December 25, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. His wife, Laura, was by his side.
Born in Attleboro, MA on January 25, 1949, he was the son of the late Frank Thomas Westcott and the late Patricia (Doherty) Westcott.
Peter was raised in Attleboro and Orleans, MA. He graduated from Attleboro High School, Class of 1967 and earned his bachelor's degree in geology from Clark University in Worcester, MA in 1971.
He was the owner, operator and president of Weststar Associates in North Attleboro.
Peter was passionate about the outdoors. He had an enormous appreciation of nature, always curious about wildlife, both flora and fauna, and he was an avid weather watcher with a passion for tracking weather patterns. Peter cherished memories of surfing at Cape Cod, Rhode Island, Florida, California, Barbados and Hawaii beaches, skiing with his wife at their favorite slopes in New England and working in their ever-developing garden. He also adored their beloved cats, giving each one an endearing nickname.
Peter's contributions to research against Parkinson's disease and Lewy Body were significant. Throughout his journey with Parkinson's, he participated in many research studies at the Massachusetts General Hospital Neurology Department in an effort to help contribute to a better understanding and better management of the disease, and to help support the ultimate goal of developing a future cure.
In addition to his loving wife, Laura Scott Westcott, of 35 years, Peter is survived by two sisters: Nancy Westcott Pocock and her husband, Roger Pocock, of Milford, CT and Deborah Westcott and her partner, Bruce Skaler, of Somerville, MA; a niece: Jemila Kester and her husband, Michael Kester, of New Zealand; and two grandnieces. Peter will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Peter's name and honor may be made to "The MGH Parkinson's Lewy Body Fund" and mailed to Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114, Attention: Kylie Baruffi.
