Peter Pride Woodberry,81, died Tuesday March 11, 2025. He was born in Beverly to the late Prescott and Helen (Tyko) Woodberry. Peter was a devoted husband, father and friend. He was married 47 years to his wife Gail Woodberry, who predeceased him in 2016.
Peter spent much of his career as a facilities manager for Axcelis, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. Even after retirement, he chose to stay active by working part time as a security guard - though in reality, it was just an excuse to get out of the house and talk to people.
An avid golfer, Peter spent countless hours at Old Newbury, where he perfected the art of almost making par. He was the founding member of the PH Invitational, he took pride in organizing a tournament where the competition was as fierce, the scorekeeping was suspiciously generous, and post-game storytelling got better with each retelling. Whether he was sinking a long putt (after three mulligans) or conveniently "forgetting "his bad shots" Peter's love for the game was second only to the friendships it brought him.
In his later years Peter found great joy in the company of his companion Carol and their loyal four-legged sidekick, Bozo.
He leaves behind surviving family members a son Peter Woodberry of Rowley, a daughter Pamela Woodberry and her husband Justin of Beverly, four grandchildren Lindsey and Zachery Woodberry and Nina and Max Damato. He was predeceased by a brother Timothy Woodberry and sister Linda Beattie.
Services are private at the request of the family. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St. Beverly, MA 01915. Information, directions, condolences at www.CampbellFuneral.com.
