Petra (Servantes) Serrano, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Skidmore, Texas on Saturday, February 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her children.
Petra was born September 20, 1940, in Beeville to Jose and Marcelina (Guerra) Servantes and was one of 17 siblings. She attended Thomas Jefferson School in Beeville and in 1960, she married Tiburcio Serrano. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church in Skidmore and St. James Catholic Church in Beeville.
Petra was a beloved housewife and homemaker and served as a nutritional cook at Hillside Nursing Home for numerous years. She was known for preparing delicious meals, including her famous deviled eggs which were a favorite among her grandchildren. She loved watching novelas, sipping on margaritas and building puzzles. She was adventurous and enjoyed trips to casinos, where she created many fun memories with her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Marcelina Servantes; her husband, Tiburcio Serrano; five sisters; and one brother.
Petra leaves behind a loving family including her children, Daniel Serrano, Jose Serrano, Reynaldo Serrano, Mary Serrano, Berta Serrano, Lupe Serrano (James Haney) and Eva Serrano. She found great joy in her role as a grandmother to 50 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren. Her eight sisters and two brothers were also an integral part of her life, and she cherished each moment spent with them.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, at Angelus Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore with Father Pete Elizardo officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Maldonado, Mario Maldonado, Jose Villarreal, Daniel Serrano Jr., Anthony Serrano and Aaron Soliz.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Marcos Serrano, Jeremy Serrano, Johnathon Serrano, Nathaniel Serrano, Elijah and Ebony Robinson, Jessica Serrano, Erica Salas, Cassandra and Nadia Serrano and Abel and Jennifer Maldonado.
