Peyton Sweeney Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 29, 2022.
Peyton Fletcher Sweeney Jr. passed peacefully in his sleep on April 18th. He was among friends and family until the end. He was loved by many for his generosity, warmth, and sense of humor.
His love of life and people was apparent in all of his activities such as hunting, fishing, travelling, and golf. He will always be remembered for his eccentric character and mannerism.
Raised in the Rio Grande valley, Peyton moved to Austin to attend St. Edwards University where he received his B.S. degree in business administration. After working in Houston for several years, he returned to Austin and joined the Lober family by marrying Maggie Lober. He adored his in-laws that included Bob and Claire Lober, their family Jim and Melinda Lober, and Susan Lober, and all of their wonderful children. Affectionately called Papa by his immediate family, Peyton was a force of nature who touched many lives.
Peyton is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Maggie Sweeney, his two sons James and Fletcher Sweeney, and his grandson Brandon Sweeney. He leaves behind his two loving sisters Mary Peyton Cochran and Caroline McDonald, and his favorite cousin Sandra Sweeney. He has joined his father Peyton F Sweeney Sr. and mother Lefee Sweeney in heaven.
The family wishes to send special thanks to the caregivers from Bluewater Home Care and Amada Home Care and especially to Francis Cox, who shared in Peyton's last moments. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Audubon Society.
