Obituary

Pheobe Colleen Gregory

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Pheobe Colleen Gregory, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 92.

Colleen was born on February 10, 1933, in Malad, Idaho, to James Frederick Condie and Pheobe Jones. She was born in her Grandma Jones' log house and was the oldest of five children. When she was about six months old, her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where she was raised. She attended school there and graduated from Pocatello High School. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator, a job she thoroughly enjoyed.

On November 14, 1953, she married the love of her life, Wilbur Dean "Greg" Gregory. They lived in Pocatello for a few years then moved to Blackfoot and raised six children, two daughters and four sons. Colleen fully embraced her role as mother and community supporter. She was actively involved in her children's lives-supporting them in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Little League, track, basketball, choir, and band.

Family was everything to Colleen. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was immensely proud of them all. She had a remarkable memory and could recall every birthday and name across generations.

Colleen was well-known for extraordinary cooking and baking. Her home was always filled with the comforting smell of homemade meals, cinnamon rolls, cookies, pies, and bread. Every November, she made Christmas chocolates with her friends. Guests rarely left her home without being fed.

She was also a talented seamstress and quilter. She learned to sew as a young girl and made beautiful dresses for her daughters and granddaughters, along with countless quilts for weddings, graduations and new grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, reading, camping, and gardening.

Throughout her marriage, Colleen and Greg made many memorable trips-especially to Ohio to visit Greg's family. They cherished spending time with his relatives and friends, who always made their visits special. Later in life they traveled to Alaska and Branson, Missouri, where they enjoyed camping sightseeing and attending various events together.

Colleen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as Relief Society president and held many other callings. She had a heart for service and was known for her kindness, compassion, and hard work. One of the greatest joys of her life was being sealed to Greg in the Idaho Falls Temple on September 9, 2017, a year after he was baptized.

Special thanks go to her son, Paul, who lovingly lived with and cared for her, chauffeured her, and helped her remain in her beloved home until her passing. She was deeply grateful for him and his constant support.

Colleen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Greg; her parents; her daughter, Brenda Hammond; one sister, Marilyn Henson; one brother, Robert Condie. She is survived by her five children, Michael (Vicki) Gregory, Jon (Karen) Gregory, David Gregory, Paul Gregory and Lisa (Robert) Brenchley, 24 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11 am at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot. The family will receive friends that morning from 9:30 – 10:45 am. Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
