Phil R. Vawter, 89, passed away January 8, 2025, at home in Wichita, Kansas. He was born in Neosha, Missouri, to Phil and Fern (Ray) Vawter. Phil was a career soldier, retiring from the Army/ National Guard as a Sergeant Major, spending time in the Civil Air Patrol in Colorado. He played in the United States Army Band Europe, supporting dignitaries and major events. Phil loved to bowl and was proud of bowling a perfect 300, also loved to tinker and was a fan of the Broncos, Chiefs and Cardinals. He was also a Judo practitioner. Phil is survived by his wife, Lela Vawter; sons, Karl Monger (Sara) and Eddie Vawter (Danielle); daughters, Kimberly Caldwell, Kristin Manning (John) and Charisse Vawter; sisters, Marvel Paschell (Dick) and Jackie Trombly (Rod); 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Brian Vawter and son in law, Bill Caldwell.
