Philip R. Berninger

Philip R. Berninger, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 30 th, 2025. He was the son of the late Raymond and Louise (Foertsch) Berninger.

He was a graduate in 1959 of Western Hills High School and its COS fraternity.

Philip worked as a printer for American Book Co. and C.J. Krehbiel Co. He was a member of the Wester Hills Masonic Lodge since 1965 and the Scottish Rite since 1987. Philip enjoyed the ocean and beach and spent most of his leisure time boating and water tubing on the river or lake. Over the years he loved his 3 little dogs (big man-little dogs) and cherished time spent with his friends, many from kindergarten, high school, work, and new friends he met later.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Pamela Knosp Berninger, and loving daughter, Colleen Jones, his brother Roger (Barbara) Berninger and sister-in-law, Linda Preziose. Philip is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jason (Sara) Berninger, Mark (Taylor) Berninger, Brian (Julie) Berninger, Bethany (Peter) Ems, Laura (Bob) Scudder, Debbie Johnson, Jim Howard, and Brian (Connie) Howard.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, and nieces and nephew, Mel Achtermeyer, Lisa Neeley, Susan Howard, Linda George, and Kathy Patendaude.

Memorial contributions in honor of Philip can be made to the Western Hills Masonic Lodge at 4353 W. Fork Road, Cincinnati, OH 45247 or to Matthew 25 Ministries at 11060 Kenwood Rd, Blue Ash, OH 45242.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7 th, 2025 from 10:00-11:00am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE line). A Masonic Service and Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 12:00pm at the Arlington Memorial Gardens.
