Marion F. Berninger, beloved wife to Robert "Bob" Berninger, amazing mother to Patricia Cruz, Robert Berninger, and Rev. Thomas Berninger, beloved mother-in-law to Ellen Berninger, Karen Berninger, and Edgar Cruz Sr., caring grandmother to Arthur Veale and his wife Rebekah, Lauren Curiotto and her husband Miles, Thomas Berninger and his wife Joy, Patricia Eukel and her husband Josh, Megan Mahan and her husband Michael, Edgar Cruz Jr. and his wife Vasiliki, Elsie Cruz, Eden Cruz, and Elana Cruz, and adored great-grandmother to Konstantina and Yianni Koukounas, Joshlyn Cruz, Avery Curiotto, and Grayson Curiotto, was a cub pack leader and a jitterbug champion with her husband, who both loved to laugh and have fun.
Marion dedicated her life to the care of her children and husband, especially when her husband became chronically ill at 39-years-old. To support her children, she fearlessly began a thriving cleaning business which she worked at until she was 72 years old. She devoted her heart and life to the service of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This was not a religious experience for Marion but rather the beginning of a life-long mission of loving and serving others. She always referred and highly recommended a personal relationship with Jesus to everyone she met. She opened her home and kitchen to church/youth group kids/teens, neighborhood kids/teens, and people who needed food and shelter until they were back on their feet. She adored her amazing and supportive church family at ALWC/Abundant Life in Nutley. She was a mother to so many and a grandmother to every child/teen/young adult to ever enter her home.
Until her last breath, Marion opened her heart to others which included practical counseling, comforting, supporting, and loving everyone she met. Her sense of humor, abundant generosity, and fun-loving nature provide laughter like a medicine! On March 4, 1937, a bouncing baby girl was born and left at the hospital. She traveled through the foster system with little support, direction or examples of motherhood or what a "loving home" was. She often felt she was nothing and had nothing to offer because that was what she was raised to believe. Little did "they" know what an amazing, fearfully and wonderfully made woman of God she would become. She will surely be missed by too many to count. We love you mom, "A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!" and of course, "Like a mouse loves cheese!" See you soon!
A Homegoing Service will be held at Abundant Life Worship Center, 103 Jacksonville Rd, Lincoln Park, NJ 07035 on Tuesday, June 17th @ 6:30pm with a Celebration of Life to follow.
