Glen Reed Berninger, 77, "The Yahtzee King" of Williamsport, passed on March 7, 2025 at Edenbrook North.
He was born in Williamsport on June 15, 1947, a son to the late Marion and Esther (Hagenberger) Berninger.
Glen was a US Army Veteran who proudly served during the Vietnam War. His courageous actions led him to receive a Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, as well as the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He worked as a long-haul truck driver in Texas for over 40 years and enjoyed traveling around the country. He loved animals, especially cats and dogs, working with his hands, demolishing his friends and family in Yahtzee, drinking Diet Coke and hot chocolate. In Glen's memory, the family suggests you enjoy a 3-egg omelet this Sunday with a hot cup of coffee.
He is survived by his children, Michael and Michelle Berninger; Brother Robert Berninger of New York; grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Richard "Dick" Berninger; sister Betty (Berninger) Hakes; as well as two nieces and two nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Edenbrook North, who cared for Glen like he was family, affectionately referring to him as "Pappy" or "Uncle Grump".
Burial will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 10:30am with full military honors.
The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be made in Glen's name to either Heidi's Furry Friends Rescue, 1413 Elwood Rd, Williamsport, PA 17701 or a charity of your choice.
