Philip Anthony Bertone Sr., born October 4, 1939, to the late Frank and Annie Bertone, passed away on November 15, 2025.
He was owner of the College Barber Shop in Hammond for almost 20 years. Philip went on to work for the Postal Service where he retired as Postmaster in Roseland. He loved hunting and fishing, vegetable gardening, and LSU football and women's basketball. Most of all, he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Philip is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jackie Bertone; daughters, Linda Gulotta (Troy), Lisa Bertone, Paige Brune (Chris), Jennifer Bullock (Derrick); sons, Edwin Ensign (Beth), Michael Bertone (Angela) and Frankie Bertone (Debbie); grandkids, Lauren Cooper (Brock), Lindsey Dibenedetto (Luke), Tristan Gulotta (Kailey), Emily and Erin Peco, Taylor and Jansen Stevens, Dylan Brune, Eddie and Maddie Ensign, Banner, Brennan and Bowen Bullock and Rebecca Bertone; great-grandkids, Rhett Dibenedetto, Sutton Grace Cooper and Emery Dibenedetto; siblings, Rita Maffei, Marie Gilcrease (Bruce) and Sam Bertone (Diane).
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Philip Anthony Bertone, Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation held Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, LA 70401 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence at 1:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum, Independence.
