Ornes "Coach" Creppel

Ornes "Coach" Creppel lost his battle with dementia but had a life well lived. He was born and raised in Lafitte with 12 other siblings. He was a son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Ornes earned a track scholarship to college and earned a master's degree. He still holds records from his performances. Teaching and coaching track was his career, and he mentored and coached many students through the Jefferson Parish School System. He served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. Ornes was very knowledgeable, and he was "Mister Fix It". He loved flea markets, auctions, antique cars and memorabilia, and finding treasures. He was known for his jokes and making others laugh. Ornes loved his country home and acreage. He found the Lord and was a proud member of Eagle Heights Church. At 85 years old, he was immersed in water baptism, as the Bible states "This priceless gift he leaves us with is assurance one day we will be reunited for eternity".

Ornes is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sharon Mouton Creppel; daughter, Jenifer Creppel Cass (Tod); sisters, Felicia Huffman (Doug) and Ann Jones (Bob); brothers, Lanny Creppel, David Creppel, Barry Creppel (Kim), Chris Creppel, and Clinton Creppel (Paula); sisters-in-law, Joy Creppel, Donis Creppel, and Bambi Creppel; brothers-in-law, William Bourgeois and Roger Bulter; grandchildren, Mason Ramsey Cass (Heather) and Devin Olsen Cass; great-grandchildren, Hadley Elaine Cass and Owen Andrew Cass; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ornes is preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Felicia Creppel; sisters, Nancy Butler and Mary Bourgeois; sister-in-law, Jean Creppel; brothers, Pete Creppel, Adam Creppel, and Richard Creppel.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home 12012 Hwy. 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Rose Memorial.
