Philip Carr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Richardson Funeral Home - Leominster on Jul. 16, 2024.
Philip A. Carr, known affectionately as Phil to his loved ones and friends, passed away after a courageous battle with a long illness on July 15, 2024, at the age of 74.
Born on July 13, 1950, in Leominster, Massachusetts, Phil was a lifelong resident of the area and a cherished member of the community. Phil's early years were spent in the town of his birth, where he attended Leominster High School and graduated with the class of 1969. He would fondly reminisce about his school days, a time that laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Phil's passion for football was evident early on, leading to his proudest accomplishment of being inducted into the Leominster Hall of Fame in 2013 in recognition of his outstanding football accomplishments.
Following his graduation, Phil embarked on a career that would see him become a respected co-owner of Carr Bros. Construction & EJ Gallant Trucking. His dedication to his work was unwavering, and he later brought his strong work ethic to the Leominster Department of Public Works, where he was equally esteemed by his colleagues.
Phil also served in the United Staes Army from 1970 ~ 1972, attaining the rank of SP4, while serving he received the National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal
Phil's life was marked by his love for his family, friends, and the simple pleasures of life. He married his soulmate, Paula (Pelletier) Carr, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter, celebrating 49 years of marriage. Phil was a devoted father to his son Gregory Carr, who, along with his children Tyler, Dylan, and Olivia, brought immense joy to Phil's life. His love for his daughters was just as profound, with Kimberly Carr and her sons Keeghan and Jacoby; Jennifer (Carr) Platine and her husband Keith; and Rebecca (Carr) Woodard, her husband Timothy, and their son Kaleb, all of whom reside in the Leominster and Shirley areas. Phil's sister, Marilyn Wilson, and her husband Gregory of Lancaster also survive him. He was a beloved uncle to several nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Phil was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Josephine Carr, his brother Charles E. Carr, and his sister Joyce (Carr) Mazzaferro, who all left an indelible mark on his life.
An avid sports fan, Phil found joy in the spirit of competition and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. His skills in playing pool were well-known, and he enjoyed many an evening with his Friday night friends, where stories and laughter were abundant. Summers were a time of relaxation and family at his home in Wells, Maine, a place that held countless cherished memories. Above all, Phil's greatest pleasure was in the time spent with his family. Whether it was fishing, attending sporting events, or simply enjoying each other's company, these moments were the ones he treasured most. His presence brought a sense of warmth and stability that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Phil's legacy is one of love, perseverance, and the joy he found in life's simplest moments. His impact on the lives of those around him was profound, and his memory will be carried forward with love and admiration.
As we say goodbye to Philip A. Carr, we celebrate a life well-lived and the countless memories he has left with us. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and he will be dearly remembered for the kind-hearted, generous man he was. I feel lucky and proud to call Phil a true friend. There are many memories I have of him while in high school, from the silliness of pranks to the angst of being a teenager. Although miles and time certainly changed the frequency of our chats, he was and is never far from my mind. I am so sorry for the family´s loss. His kindness and authenticity are difficult to find in life. I know he cherished Paula and his children. I know he loved his life and he will always be in the hearts of those lives he has touched.
